My Friend Bud
Richard "Bud" Pruett died suddenly at our reunion
brunch on Aug 16, 2009. I will post an obituary for
Bud
as soon as one is printed in a newspaper but your
webmaster knew him well and considered him a great friend.
After my Junior year in high school, my parents
decided to move to the Tri-Cities and Bud's parents, Bert &
Melba Pruett offered me a place to stay to finish
my schooling at CHS. Jerry, their son, was asked to share his
bedroom and we become good friends. Bud,
Dorothy and his grandparents, Simon and Lorena gave me a job
working
on the farm so I would have money to spend.
Jerry & I spent our summers cutting, raking, baling & stacking
alfalfa
during the day and moving water pipes after work.
I've got some great memories of those years and I thank the
Pruett's
for their kindness.

(Tri-City Herald)
Mueller's Tri-Cities
Funeral Home
Bud passed away Sunday August 16 at
the age of 75. Bud was born May 14,
1934 in Pasco, Washington to Bert
and Melba Pruett.
Bud worked for the railroad in his
late teen years. In 1956, Bud and
Dorothy started their 53 years
together. They moved out to the
Miller farm where Bud could farm
with his grandfather until his
grandparents' deaths. He worked the
farm for the rest of his life. Bud
and Dorothy have spent over ten
winters in Yuma, Arizona playing
cards with the other snowbirds.
When friends and family would stop
by the ranch they could find grandpa
on the porch throwing the ball for
Rosco, roaming around on his custom
four wheeler (a craftsman 1000 lawn
mower with a John Deere sticker on
the side), or out fixing up the
place. He loved the farm.
Bud is preceded in death by his
grandparents Simon and Lorena Miller
and parents Bert and Melba Pruett.
He is survived in death by his wife,
Dorothy; children, Cindy Pruett,
Lisa (Shane) Thompson and son, Ward
(Patty) Pruett; 4 grandchildren,
Julie, Sara & Kyle Pruett and
Rashelle Thompson. Brothers Jerry (Rockie)
Pruett & Kent (Monica) Pruett and
numerous nieces, nephews and
cousins. Not to be left out, his
best buddy Rosco.
